Martin Luther King Jr. Day

When I picked my five year old nephew up from his dads on Friday I was in for a delightful surprise. As I helped him put up his dinosaurs so we could leave he suddenly jumped up and said “Guess what I learned today at school” I asked him to tell me, and what I heard next made my heart melt. He said, “I learned there was a man named Martin King Jr. (He was close) and he told everybody that he had a dream. A dream that skin didn’t matter.” This was such an innocent version of what Martin Luther King stood for and still stands for today. Brodie is only in kindergarten and it made he so happy to know that he was being taught such an important lesson in life at such a young age. In the end, I hugged Brodie and said “It takes all kinds of people to make this world go ‘round, so always love everyone.” He replied, “I will Kiki.” So in honor of such an important day lets all take a moment to remember Martin Luther King Jr. and the incredible faith, love and passion he had for humanity.
